Come to the next La Mesa-Foothills Democractic Club meeting for "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly: My Life in Democratic Politics."
Bob Jellison will speak to La Mesa area Democrats about his two decades of experience with the San Diego County Democratic Party, which he titles: “The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly”.
Bob is a former Chair of the San Diego County Democratic Party. His diverse experiences in this capacity included setting up the Democratic booth at the County Fair, opening and unionizing the County administrative office, supporting the Al Gore campaign, and dealing with the IRS around tax issues with the County Party. As part of his talk, he will discuss how Club member can become involved in local and national campaigns, as well as with the Central Committee.
Bob attended San Diego public schools and SDSU, followed by a stint with the Navy's pilot training program. He served on five aircraft carriers and in several jet fighter squadrons. As reconnaissance squadron commanding officer, Bob flew 100 missions over North Vietnam, until his retirement from the Navy in 1975, with the rank of captain. Bob’s second career was as an engineer with Titan Systems in San Diego.
A lifelong Democrat, Bob's involvement with the Party began in 1993 when he was elected President of the Rancho North Coast Democratic Club. By 2000, Bob's activity with the Party led to his election as County Chair. While Chair, Bob began a weekly e-newsletter for Democrats–Direct–which today has over 4500 subscribers.
Bob and his wife Nancy reside in Del Mar.
