Ribbonwood Fire: Firefighters Deploy Air Tankers, Helicopters On 25-Acre Blaze
A fire of unknown origin scorched about 25 open acres in the far southeastern reaches of San Diego County Wednesday.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA - A fire of unknown origin scorched about 25 open acres in the far southeastern reaches of San Diego County Wednesday afternoon. The blaze began spreading about a quarter-mile east of Ribbonwood Road and roughly a mile north of Interstate 8 in the Boulevard area about 3:30 p.m., according to Cal Fire.
Ground crews and personnel aboard air tankers and water-dropping helicopters and attacked the flames, getting their spread halted about 4:45 p.m., said Issac Sanchez, a fire captain with the state agency.
The cause of the fire, which posed no structural threats, was under investigation, Sanchez said.
