Prom season is almost here! It’s an exciting night filled with memories, but getting ready before the main event can be incredibly stressful, especially when appointments run late or salons are overbooked. While you sometimes have no choice but to skip the salon before for lack of time, there’s never an excuse for showing up looking anything but your best. A stylish updo you can create yourself at home in less than five minutes can transform your look to celebration ready.
Here are five prom updos you can style yourself in five minutes:

1. Top Knot Bun

This is my favorite quick updo, not only for a glamorous party look, but also for those days when you’re running late and haven’t had time to wash your hair. Even the celebrities love it for their red carpet look. For this style, you’ll need a paddle brush, bobby pins and one or two ouch-less hair ties. Tie a high ponytail at the crown of your head. Use the brush to smooth the hair. Split the ponytail in two, then take the ends of the ponytail and tie them in a knot. Flip the hair forward. Where the two pieces meet in the back, tuck them under the knot and secure them with the bobby pins. Go around the knot, tucking in pieces of hair until a bun is formed.
2. Top Bun with "Donut"
Tie a high ponytail. Place a hair "donut" around the ponytail. Next, back comb around the hair "donut,” smooth and pin it. Hair "donuts" are available at KODA Salon.
3. Pony Pouf
Separate the top half of your hair and clip it away. Tie the bottom half into a ponytail at center back of head. Back comb the top section and "pouf" and pin into place.
4. Roll/Tuck
Tie your hair into a low ponytail. Drag down your hair tie. Create an opening above the ponytail holder and insert the ponytail into the opening. Roll the hair from the ponytail, then bobby pin it into place creating a "roll".
5. Triple Braid Bun
Create three low ponytails. Braid each one. Pin each braid into a bun at the nape of your neck, creating a quick, intricate and beautiful updo.
