Free Sandbags Available For La Mesa Residents

Empty bags and sand will be available for residents on a first come, first serve basis at the Public Works Yard in La Mesa.

LA MESA, CA – Weather officials are predicting La Mesa and the surrounding region could see more rain through Tuesday.

To help residents and businesses prepare for the continued rainfall and prevent flood-related damage, the city of La Mesa is offering a place where people can pick up free sand and bags.

Empty bags and sand will be available for residents on a first come, first serve basis at the Public Works Yard at 8152 Commercial St. during normal business hours. Business hours are 6 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, as well as 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. alternating Fridays. Sand is available for self-service near the fuel pumps at the Public Works Yard.

Residents are asked to bring their own shovels. Residents must also have a valid La Mesa ID.
