Grossmont Bags League Opener in Boys Lacrosse, Beating Helix 10-4

Foothillers prevail on Scotties' field under chilly and damp conditions.

Crosstown rivals Helix Charter High School and Grossmont High School met at the Highlanders’ house Tuesday night for boys lacrosse, with the Hillers playing rude guests, winning 10-4. It was the Grossmont Hills League opener for both. Charlie Smith led Grossmont with three goals; Hunter Jones and Tim Schwartz each had two, and Dustin Spencer-Bacon, Rohland DeMoss and Nick Hernandez had one apiece. Helix scorers were Peter Brandt (two goals) and Josh Forbes and Gavin Falkner (one each). Grossmont’s record under coach J.J. Miramontes rose to 5-2, while Helix coach Chris Ticconi saw his team’s record fall to 5-3.
