It's A Boy! Baby Born on Side of San Diego Freeway

BREAKING: The healthy baby arrived about 7:30 Thursday morning, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department spokesman said.

SAN DIEGO, CA — A baby boy was born on the side of a San Diego freeway Thursday morning, after the mother got stuck in rush hour traffic and could not make it to the hospital in time, according to authorities.

Paramedics were called to westbound Interstate 8 near Waring Road in Grantville at about 7:35 a.m., according to San Diego Fire-Rescue spokesman Lee Swanson. But by the time they got there, the healthy baby had already arrived.

That stretch of the freeway is typically full of slow-moving cars at that time of the morning.
