La Mesa Man Killed In Crash Near Del Mar
Justin James Read Evans, 27, of La Mesa, was killed on northbound I-5 near Villa De La Valle, officials said.
LA MESA, CA – Authorities Wednesday identified the man who was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 5 last week after he exited his own car following an earlier crash.
Justin James Read Evans, 27, of La Mesa, was killed around 2:30 a.m. Nov. 14 on northbound I-5 near Villa De La Valle, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
Evans exited his vehicle after it collided with the center divider in the far-left lane, then ran to the right-side shoulder. Meanwhile, another vehicle rear-ended his car.

Evans ran back to retrieve an item from his car, believed to be his cell phone, and as he attempted to return to the shoulder, he was struck by another vehicle.
