La Mesa Mayor Art Madrid and Wyland Foundation Challenge City Residents to Get Water-Wise this Earth Month

La Mesa Mayor Art Madrid is challenging local residents to conserve water, save energy and reduce pollution as part of a national competition throughout Earth Month (April 1-30)

The National Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conservation presented by the Wyland Foundation (started by famed environmental artist Wyland) is a friendly competition among mayors nationwide, held every April, to see who can inspire the most residents to make online pledges to conserve at www.mywaterpledge.com. This year, a new site for kids was also unveiled, www.mywaterpledge.com/students, featuring a series of animated public service announcements, educational tools and other resources to encourage teachers and students to work together and help the city win.

Other cities in the area also competing this year include San Diego and Encinitas. At the end of the month, the city with the most pledges wins, and residents of the winning city will also be eligible to receive more than 300 eco-friendly prizes, including a Toyota Prius Plug-in.
