La Mesa National Storms Back for 11-10 Win

A three-run homer by Nate Jarvis pulls LMNLL even in the bottom of the sixth, setting up the winning run in a 11-10 win over Rancho Buena Vista.

The La Mesa National Little League All-Stars came back from a four-run defict early in Saturday's Section 6 tournament game against Rancho Buena Vista, but it didn't look good after RBV took a 10-7 lead with three runs in the top of the sixth and final inning.

No problem. Nate Jarvis tied the game with a three-run homer to left, and La Mesa National was able to push across the game-winner soon afterward for an 11-10 victory that puts the team into a winner's bracket game with Encinitas National at 11 a.m. Sunday at the 4S Ranch Little League complex.

"That was my first home run of the postseason," said Jarvis. "Walking up to the plate, I told myself 'keep your composure and look for the first good fastball and drive it.' I got an inside pitch and was able to pull it over the fence."

"We know we can hit," said LMNLL coach LB Havird. "It was just a matter of time before we started putting the ball into play and good things happened."

The winner of Sunday's game in the double-elimination tourney plays Tuesday at 6 p.m., with the loser playing Monday at 6 p.m.
