- The La Mesa City Council allocated $99,440 to support Oktoberfest, Holiday in the Village, weekly summer car shows and an advertising campaign for the village. (The San Diego Union-Tribune)
- A 53-year-old San Diego County resident is the first locally acquired human case of West Nile Virus this year, the county Health and Human Services Agency announced. (City News Service)
