Meet the Candidates at Mission Trails Regional Center on July 2

Representative Scott Peters (CA 52) will headline the La Mesa Foothills Democratic Clubs’, “Party in the Park”.  The event is being held at the Mission Trails Region Park (MTRP) Visitor’s Center (One Father Junipero Serra Tr., San Diego, CA 92119) at 6pm on Wednesday, July 2nd.  Peters will be accompanied by many other local politicians and candidates including Representative Susan Davis (CA 53), County Supervisor Dave Roberts and County Democratic Chair Francine Busby among others.  The event is being sponsored by the La Mesa Foothills Democratic Club, a long standing, east county political organization that is 30 years old this year.  This is the first time in the club’s history that it will hold its July meeting outside the city limits of La Mesa.  Area residents are invited to join politicians and club members on the patio for a sunset celebration of the history, the present, and the future of our beautiful natural resource, the largest urban park in San Diego.

There will be barbequed burgers and hot dogs as well as the club’s annual pie contest to be judged by the dignitaries.  Additionally, the event will include discussions with the candidates and politicians as well as presentations by Jay Wilson, Executive Director of the MTRP Foundation.  Jay will address the many ways local residents can conscientiously preserve, visit, volunteer and appreciate the many recreational and historical aspects of the park.  Along with detailing the immediate future in this precious Nature Preserve, Jay will suggest civic participation in light of future development of the San Diego River Valley.
