BREAKING: The crash happened Friday near Campo, according to the California Highway Patrol.

CAMPO, CA — A San Diego man was hospitalized in grave condition Friday after crashing his motorcycle into a tree off State Route 94 in Campo, the California Highway Patrol reported.

At about 10:35 a.m. Friday, according to CHP Officer Kevin Pearlstein, the 25-year-old motorcyclist was driving his Yamaha at a high rate of speed eastbound on Highway 94 west of Harris Ranch Road, near Campo, when he failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

"The motorcycle traveled onto the dirt shoulder where it impacted a large tree ejecting the rider," Pearlstein said.
