Musicals, Free Concert and Relay for Life Dash Into Weekend

August is officially here!

MOVIES BY THE LAKE

• What's Up: Santee Lakes will host Movies by the Lake with a showing of The Avengers (PG-13). Don't forget your picnic blankets and baskets!
• When: 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2.

THE DANCE

• What's Up: The musical comedy show will follow two friends and their pursuit of love and happiness as they learn the dance of life.
• When: 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 & Saturday, Aug. 3; 3 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. 
• Where: Off Broadway Live, 9490 Cuyamaca St., Santee.

• What's Up: Bring your dancing shoes for an evening of salsa music. Sunset Summer Concert Series will feature Manny Cepeda Salsa.

• What's Up: Young Actors' Theatre will present the musical Les Misérables. The musical will follow Jean Valjean in 19th century France who is being hunted by a ruthless policeman after he breaks parole. 
• When: 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2 & Saturday, Aug. 3; 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. 
• Where: Cuyamaca College Theatre, 900 Rancho San Diego Pkwy., El Cajon.
• Price: $15-$18. 

• What's Up: Relay for Life Spring Valley will honor and celebrate cancer survivors. The event will include luminaria ceremony, survivors lap, live entertainment, informational booths on services the American Cancer Society provides cancer patients and more. 
• When: 9 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. 
• Where: Monte Vista High School (JV Baseball Field), 3230 Sweetwater Springs Blvd., Spring Valley.

• What's Up: Santee United Methodist Church will host a carnival featuring a water slide and games. The family friend event will feature carnival games, cupcake walk, balloon animals and more. 
• When: 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. 
• Where: Santee United Methodist Church, 8964 N. Magnolia Ave., Santee.
• Price: Free. 

• What's Up: Off Broadway Live and Flat Seven Products will present the musical production RENT.
