Woman Walking On Highway Fatally Struck By Car In East County
The woman was walking in the northbound lanes of SR-125 to the westbound SR-52 transition ramp in Santee, according to the CHP.

SANTEE, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a car while walking on the highway Tuesday morning in San Diego's East County, authorities said.
The woman was walking in the northbound lanes of state Route 125 to the westbound state Route 52 transition ramp around 4:25 a.m. when she was hit by a blue 2003 BMW 330I, according to the California Highway Patrol.
"The BMW was not able to avoid the pedestrian and struck her in the No. 1 lane of the transition ramp," CHP Officer Jared Grieshaber said.

The woman died at the scene, Grieshaber said. The driver of the car, a 37-year-old man from Spring Valley, was not hurt in the crash.
Drugs and alcohol were not believed to be factors in the crash, Grieshaber said.
