Press Release or Self-Promotion?

On July 16, 2013 the City of La Mesa issued a press release regarding mayoral participation in a League of California Cities governing board meeting held in San Diego. Did the city hire a mayoral press secretary? This 3rd person account of the event is nothing short of the usual self-congratulatory load of bull-Durham used by the mayor to justify his extensive travel. On it's face the press release hilariously void of substance. At it's worst, taxpayers are funding this tripe for the League of California Cities membership to the tune of $16,477.00 per year.
Maybe someday the mayor will explain to the rest of the city council precisely what he does at these gatherings and how these events benefit the operation of the city. Until such time I guess we must suffer continued general hyperbole. Should anyone wish to congratulate the mayor on this effort you will need to wait until he is finished patting himself on the back!
