SDSU Business Writing Course Coming in October

SDSU's College of Extended Studies offers a series of three half-day workshops in its Business Writing for Success program.

Whether it’s right or wrong, your words at work reflect your education, skill level, and the degree of your professionalism, regardless of whether you have a high school diploma or a doctorate. SDSU’s College of Extended Studies offers a series of three half-day workshops in its Business Writing for Success program that is designed for professionals who would like to hone their writing skills.
“I enrolled in the Business Writing course during my last spring break of college because I felt I wasn’t being taken as seriously as I wanted to,” said former student Austin Farmer. “I am a writer, and I felt I was lacking the necessary skills to pitch ideas to agents and editors. After taking the Business Writing class, I am now confident I can progress in my career.”
Published author Anne Bromley of Encinitas is a writing instructor and consultant who will also share her secrets as the instructor for this program. “What’s happening now is that more and more people are being called into management positions and forced to write,” she said. “They get kicked upstairs and realize they are not very good communicators in writing. It has caused a lot of problems in the workplace. We’ve had so many issues where people need help.”
The class schedule is as follows:
The Five Essential Steps, Thursday, Oct. 2, 8:30 am-12 pm
Editing and Proofreading, Thursday, Oct. 9, 8:30 am-12 pm
Polishing Your Grammar Skills, Thursday, Oct. 16, 8:30 am-12 pm
The fee for the entire program is $495. For information, call (619) 594-2193, email lhoward@mail.sdsu.edu or visit www.neverstoplearning.net/bw. The website includes a video.
This is a SDSU Research Foundation program.
