Sharp Grossmont Hospital In La Mesa Loses Power, On Backup System

The hospital on Grossmont Center Drive lost power shortly after 11 a.m., according to San Diego Gas and Electric spokeswoman Allison Torres.

LA MESA, CA – Utility workers accidentally knocked out power to Sharp Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa Monday, forcing the hospital to use a backup system.

Water utility workers inadvertently hit an underground electrical line that delivers power to Sharp Grossmont, Torres said.

The hospital was quickly able to restore power with a backup generator, but it will take an estimated 24 hours to repair the electrical line, according to Torres.
