For instance, walking on my complex and introducing myself to my fellow neighbors, I got doors slammed on my face, I got burped, ignored, and kicked out. I was told: ‘If I ever need a realtor, I will make sure it is not you”, just because I was the one saying“Hello neighbor, I hope you are having a great day, I just wanted to introduce myself not only because I am your neighbor, but also because I am a realtor and I want to make sure that this community, the one I live in and love, knows that I am the local professional willing to help with ANY of your real estate concerns”.
To add some frosting on the cake, on the following day I received 2 text messages telling me to STOP invading their privacy, and one email telling me that I was expected to never repeat the action of handing flyers with (what I think was) valuable information. I was threatened and I learn some lessons which I will post on the next blog; but above all, I learn that I can not give up because some people are having a bad day or just want to make sure you don’t do what you are supposed to. Door knocking is not only part of my job, but it is an essential part of any Realtor daily tasks when prospecting.

The ability to overcome these atrocities with a smile on my face and enough strength to keep going made me realize what kind of person I am. Being a sales person is a constant struggle that can either enhance your self-esteem or push you into a different career. It increases your confidence, your communication skills, and your ability to make friends.
Not all stories are terrible. I was also invited into owners houses, I was offered coffee and got myself involved in the most amazing and friendly conversations I have ever experienced as a sales man. These situations are the ones that can make you realize you can truly reach to people and relate to their feelings and needs.
The path I chose has a lot to do with my willingness to help others and the joy I get from being responsible for happy outcomes and recurrent customers and friends. I want to be your professional and I will be sure not to disappoint. Not only because of my people’s skills, but also because I truly want everyone to get what they want… Only then, I will get what I want.
