Woman Killed In Solo Vehicle Crash In La Mesa
A 67-year-old woman was killed when she lost control of her vehicle and slammed into a cement wall in La Mesa, police said.
LA MESA, CA — A 67-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning when she lost control of her vehicle and slammed into a cement wall in La Mesa, police said.
Dispatchers received a call around 12:20 a.m. from a person who reported that a vehicle was blocking the roadway on the 70th Street overpass for Interstate 8, just north of Alvarado Road, La Mesa police Lt. Brian Stoney said.
Officers arrived and found the driver, a 67-year-old woman, unresponsive in the vehicle with no pulse, Stoney said.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead, the lieutenant said. The woman's name was withheld pending family notification.
Investigators believe the woman was heading northbound on 70th Street when she lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons near Alvarado Road, Stoney said.

The vehicle crossed into the southbound lanes, jumped the curb on the west side of the road and crashed into the cement wall of the Interstate 8 overpass, Stoney said, adding that the woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
