A woman was hospitalized with a leg wound Friday after a shooting in La Mesa, authorities said.

LA MESA, CA – A woman was hospitalized with a leg wound Friday after a shooting in La Mesa, authorities said.

The La Mesa Police Department responded to the woman's 911 call at 3752 Harris Street at 6:13 p.m. Thursday.

Officers found the woman in front of the residence and administered first aid until paramedics arrived, La Mesa Police Department Lt. Greg Runge said in a statement.

The woman was taken to a hospital and is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The La Mesa Police Department is investigating the incident and is ''unable to release any information regarding the suspect or motive in the case at this time,'' Runge said in the statement.

On Twitter, police asked residents to ''shelter in place'' and stay clear of the area around 6:30 p.m. The police later tweeted that the order to shelter in place was lifted.
