4 Suspects Arrested After Moraga Store Theft
The 4 suspects from Oakland were stopped by Lafayette police. The getaway car was stolen, police report.
LAMORINDA, CA — Four Oakland residents were arrested Wednesday following a theft from the TJ Maxx store at Rheem Valley Shopping Center, Moraga Police report. All four suspects — 53-year-old Jimmy Swearengin, 55-year-old Major Mack, 32-year-old Shirley Johnson, and 44-year-old Tony Richard — were booked into county jail in Martinez.
Moraga Police officers were dispatched to investigate the theft just before 11 a.m. A description of the getaway vehicle, which had been reported stolen, was shared with neighboring police departments. A short time later, Lafayette Police officers spotted the vehicle in Lafayette.
Lafayette officers stopped the car and held the suspects until Moraga officers arrived. "Officers recovered the property that had been stolen from the TJ Maxx and the suspects were positively identified by witnesses as being involved in the theft," police said in a release.

The suspects were booked on suspicion of several crimes including petty theft, conspiracy, probation violations, and vehicle theft.
