LAMORINDA, CA —Prepare for a serving of country gravy, a dash of dance-floor glam, and a helping of hometown star power when Yesterday’s Biscuits and Lamorinda Idol finalists crank up the free Rock the Plaza concert series next month on the Lafayette Plaza.
The Friday evening concert series runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on June 5, June 12, and June 26, with the downtown plaza as an open-air stage lined with picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and takeout dinners. Organizers skipped June 19 in observance of Juneteenth National Independence Day.
Jimbo Scott and Yesterday’s Biscuits open the series June 5 with Americana and roots music, followed June 12 by The Kyle Athayde Dance Party.
Lamorinda Idol finalists close the month-long lineup June 26 with performances from emerging local singers.
The Lafayette Chamber encouraged visitors to bring jackets, blankets, chairs, and “air guitars” while supporting downtown restaurants during the free concerts near Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Moraga Road.
The summer concert series also sets the stage for the return of the Lafayette Art & Wine Festival on Sept. 19-20 in downtown Lafayette.
