LAMORINDA, CA — An anonymous, automated phone call reporting a potential threat prompted Lafayette police to lock down Acalanes High School just before noon Monday, before officers responded to a similar call at nearby Stanley Intermediate School.
Police announced the Acalanes lockdown before noon. "Officers are working a potential threat that was called into Acalanes High School by an annomoyous automated call. The lock down is a precaution. Avoid the area," the Lafayette Police Department announced in a Nixle alert.
Authorities lifted the lockdown around 1:20 p.m. after determining there was no credible threat to the high school.
"Lafayette PD has completed their risk assessment and there is no credible threat to AHS. Students are returning to their normal school day schedule," police said.
Police had asked the community to avoid the area while officers investigated the call and kept the school on lockdown as a precaution.
A short while after clearing Acalanes, officers responded to Stanley Intermediate School for another reported threat that police said appeared to be a swatting call.
"Officers are at Stanley Intermediate School while they determine if there is a viable threat that was called in," the department said in a Nixle alert.
Lafayette police said they were taking the call seriously while determining whether a viable threat existed.
Stanley Intermediate School is located at 3455 School Street in Lafayette. Acalanes High School is located on Pleasant Hill Road.
Students at Acalanes returned to campus last Tuesday for the first day of school.
