CONTRA COSTA, CA — Detectives arrested a 34-year-old Martinez man Wednesday after a chase that led multiple agencies across Contra Costa County.
Police linked the suspect to three residential burglaries reported earlier this week and after finding property they suspected had been stolen from a Martinez home, authorities said.
Authorities identified the suspect as Kohlton Kumnick of Martinez.
On Tuesdsay, Lafayette detectives arrived at a home in the 3800 block of Alhambra Way in Martinez to serve Kumnick with a search warrant connected to the burglary investigation, according to police.
Kumnick fled after seeing officers, police said.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office, Walnut Creek Police Department, Martinez Police Department, and East Bay Regional Park District Police Department joined Lafayette officers in searching for him, but could not find him that day.
In the meantime, investigators recovered property stolen during the Lafayette burglaries inside the Martinez home, police said.
On Wednesday, Lafayette detectives and the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Unit J-Team found Kumnick in Walnut Creek and took him into custody while he was driving a vehicle believed to be stolen, according to police.
Authorities booked Kumnick into the Martinez Detention Facility on suspicion of burglary, vehicle theft, possession of stolen property, being a felon in possession of a firearm, grand theft, identity theft, resisting arrest, and narcotics offenses.
His bail was set at $220,000 bail, police said.
