LAMORINDA, CA — The Moraga-Orinda Fire Protection District board will interview three candidates Thursday and could appoint one to fill the vacant District 2 seat.
Directors will first consider the proposed interview and appointment procedures and interview questions.
Staff recommends that the board approve or amend the process before interviewing candidates, deliberating, opening nominations, and voting.
The agenda lists Greg Andrews, James Duff, and Max Sherman as candidates.
If a candidate receives three affirmative votes, staff recommends that directors adopt a resolution appointing that person and direct the district clerk to administer the oath of office.
If no candidate receives enough votes, directors could reopen applications, schedule additional interviews or votes, establish a committee to recruit candidates, or direct staff to notify the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors about the vacancy and appointment process.
The special meeting begins at 5 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Orinda Library Auditorium, 26 Orinda Way.
Residents can attend in person or join through Zoom. Phone participants can call 669-900-6833 and enter webinar ID 858 9210 9762. Public comment is limited to three minutes per speaker per agenda item.
Written comments must reach info@mofd.org by 2 p.m. Thursday for distribution to directors before the meeting. Written comments will not be read aloud.
The district will also livestream the meeting on its YouTube channel through a link on its website.
