Caldecott Tunnel Reopens Following Car Fire
A car fire caused the mess on Highway 24.

LAMORINDA, CA — The California Highway Patrol has lifted a sig-alert for eastbound Highway 24. Both eastbound bores were closed for a time because of a car fire. One bore was blocked for about an hour. Both were blocked from 11:42 a.m. until 12:18 p.m. The second reopened shortly before 12:30.
No injuries have been reported.
Although the car fire only blocked one bore, the second had to be shut down so that the Orinda Fire Department could approach the fire going in the wrong direction. It only took a minute to get the fire out, but then they had to wait for the smoke to clear. Once the fire truck backed out of the bore, it reopened.
