Boy Scout Raises Money To Honor Veterans

Vikram Ravi's Eagle Scout Project will honor veterans at Alamo-Lafayette Veterans Cemetery.

LAMORINDA, CA —Vikram Ravi is a Life Scout part of Troop 888, who said he always knew he wanted his Boy Scout Eagle Project to elevate and showcase service from our veterans.

He contacted the Alamo-Lafayette Veterans Cemetery and found out that they need some help.

"My Project consists of 2 parts," said Ravi, "the first, to build an online, interactive map for the Cemetery so visitors can easily find Veterans who are buried there, and the second is to fund for proper grave markers to indicate that a veteran is buried at a specific grave."

For the second part of his project, Ravi turned to Go Fund Me to raise the $4,000 needed for the durable metal markers that have the official United States Seal on them.

According to Ravi, "There are over 200 veterans at the burial site, and the vast majority don’t have grave markers, and the ones who do only have tiny and improper pointers not fit to represent those who died for our country."

The $4,000 will cover the full purchase price of the markers. The fund is a bit more than halfway to its goal.

Ravi is certain that the markers will make a difference to friends and family who visit. "These will indicate to visitors and families of the veterans that a grave hosts a veteran, and will truly be able to honor these heroes for their invaluable sacrifice to our country."
