Bread-Breaking Opening at Lafayette Whole Foods Draws Cameras, Crowds
Live from Lafayette! Momentous local event attracts broadcast media in addition to huge throng of customers.
By noon, barely two hours after the blue ribbon was cut officially and ceremonial bread broken, the new Whole Foods store at the Plaza Center in Lafayette was so mobbed customers needed a Jaws-Of-Life to make their way through the aisles.
The occasion attracted mobile units fromKKDV radio and Channel 7, the ABC affiliate in San Francisco. KKDV had a giveaway-item booth and did a live show between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Initial reports: business is brisk, parking scarce, great merchandise and local foods.
