Bullet Hole Found In Abandoned SUV In Orinda
The driver took off on foot after crashing into another vehicle.

LAMORINDA, CA — Investigators found a bullet hole in the door of an SUV that rear-ended an East Bay Municipal Utilities District vehicle on westbound state Highway 24 Wednesday morning in Orinda, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash was reported at 8:58 a.m. near Camino Pablo, CHP Officer Brandon Correia said.
The driver of the EBMUD vehicle was slowing down to a near stop due to traffic congestion when a male suspect driving a Ford Edge crashed into it from behind. The driver of the EBMUD vehicle pulled over to the
center divider, then observed the suspect flee on foot and run over to a nearby BART platform, according to Correia.

"It's definitely weird," Correia said. "I can't say why the person ran, but you can assume a lot of things."

Investigators did not find any identification or paperwork inside the Ford Edge, but they have determined it to be a rental vehicle."While they're doing the vehicle inventory, because we have to store the car, the officer notices a bullet hole in the door," Correia said.
The suspect has not yet been identified, but the vehicle is not thought to be connected with any known highway shooting.
"There will be further investigation to see where it was rented and who rented it," Correia added.
A brief Sig-alert was issued for westbound Highway 24, from 9:15 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., while the suspect vehicle was towed away from the scene of the crash.
