Call For Entries For Lamorinda ShortDocs Film Fest
Lamorinda Arts Council will host its 3rd Annual ShortDocs Film on April 15.

LAMORINDA, CA - From Lamorinda Arts Council: Lamorinda Arts Council (LAC) will now host their 3rd Annual ShortDocs Film Fest at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center on April 15th at 3 pm. Originally scheduled for February 11th this year, this documentary film festival provides local filmmakers an opportunity to create new work as well as showcase it at a community screening.
The extended deadline for Entries for the Lamorinda ShortDocs Film Fest is now March 18th. The
competition was previously open only to anyone five years of age or older who lives, works or attends school in Orinda, Lafayette or Moraga. This year, eligibility has been widened to include neighboring cities of Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Martinez, and Concord. Film submissions will be judged in one of four categories: elementary school, middle school, high school, and adult. One student made film will also be selected as an Audience Favorite.
“We’ve decided to postpone this year’s festival due to lack of submissions by the original deadline. Originally, we had expected there to be enough novice and intermediate filmmakers in Lamorinda to sustain the festival annually, but we have learned that even the most successful filmmakers do not necessarily enter every year,” says LAC Managing Director and Festival Producer, Meredith Friedman. “That, combined with an unusually hard cold and flu season this year, we just didn’t see the submissions roll in by the deadline. By postponing this year’s festival by 2 months and expanding the geographical area of eligibility, we hope to bring this year’s festival to a whole new level.”
