The Chamber Ensembles closes its season with passion-filled settings by several late Romantic period composers, of the late nineteenth century to early twentieth century. These a cappella choral settings often require from four to sixteen vocal parts, thickening the vocal texture in displaying the rich and colorful harmonic flavor of this period. These are among the most beautiful and challenging chorals works ever written. Included are selections by Brahms, Elgar, Bruckner, George Schumann, Mahler, Rheinberger, Ives, Hugo Alfvén, and R. Nathaniel Dett.
