Contra Costa County Escapes Rolling Blackouts

It was one of 3 counties targeted for rolling blackouts Sunday evening.

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CA — Contra Costa County caught a break Sunday night when California ISO decided that rolling blackouts would not be needed. The supply in the California power grid was sufficient to meet demand.

PG&E had announced earlier that Contra Costa, San Francisco and San Mateo counties would be targeted for blackouts, if needed. Some 210,000 customers in the three counties would have lost power.

The previous two nights, Friday and Saturday, PG&E was ordered to do rotating outages, and hundreds of thousands were impacted.
