Driver Lodges Car Into Downtown Building In Early Morning Crash

Police responding to the report of a crash found a vehicle lodged in a vacant building.

LAMORINDA, CA — Police arrested a driver who crashed into a vacant building in downtown Lafayette, police said.

Officers were dispatched at about shortly after midnight Saturday to the intersection of Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Moraga Road.

There they found a vehicle that had collided with a vacant building.

Officers contacted the driver at the scene and subsequently arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Police reported no other injuries but used the incident to remind motorists to plan ahead and use a designated driver or ride-share service when drinking.
