Driver Killed In Single Vehicle Crash Tuesday Near Lafayette
The crash was on Bear Creek Road and involved a car hitting a tree and bursting into flames. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

LAFAYETTE, CA —A driver was killed Tuesday afternoon in a solo vehicle crash near Lafayette, the Contra Costa California Highway Patrol has reported.
Contra Costa CHP officials said the crash was reported at 3:23 p.m. on Bear Creek Road, just south of Happy Valley Road near the Briones Reservoir.
When emergency officials arrived at the scene, they found a 2007 grey Toyota Prius that had gone off the road, run into a tree and burst into flames. The driver, who was alone in the car, was trapped inside and unable to be extricated, police said.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and officials have not yet released the driver's identity.
Police said the crash remains under investigation and it's unknown if alcohol or drugs were factors in the collision.
