LAMORINDA, CA — A small brush fire broke out Friday evening in steep terrain in Lamorinda. Fortunately, firefighters were able to quickly snuff out the blaze.

Crews from Moraga-Orinda Fire District, CalFire, Contra Costa County Fire (ConFire) and East Bay Regional Parks Fire all attacked the flames, holding the fire to just an acre. No homes were damaged or threatened, and no injuries were reported.

However, Moraga-Orinda Fire expressed frustration that someone was flying a drone overhead. "This made it unsafe for helicopters to drop water and airplanes to drop retardant on the fire," they said in an online post. "This could have had tragic results if the fire had begun to spread as firefighters would have lost a critical tool to fight the fire."
