Lafayette Election 2010: Brandt Andersson - On the Issues

Brandt Andersson: The Bullets

  • Mayor of Lafayette 2009-present
  • Lafayette City Council Member, 2002, 2006-present
  • Lamorinda Trails Committee, 2002-2004
  • Andersson has also chaired the Orinda Planning Commission from 1987- 1989, where he helped define the term "semi-rural." Lafayette adopted this term as well, and it has helped protect community open space while developing a bustling downtown.
  • He is a practicing attorney and runs a firm Law Offices of Andersson & Andersson, along with his wife, Patricia. He is a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association.
  • Research Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory for 13 years.
  • Master's degree in architecture from Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Law degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, UC-Berkeley.

Andersson has lived in Lafayette for almost two decades, in Lamorinda for almost three. He and his wife have a son and a daughter.

  • Continue to support a vital, friendly downtown, by working with local businesses, improving infrastructure and amenities, and long term planning that respects diverse concerns and the significant constraints on infrastructure
  • Set and enforce consistent development standards that respect neighborhood character
  • Seek opportunities for affordable housing, especially for seniors

Open Space

  • Preserve open spaces by collaborating with other agencies and organizations
  • Incorporate hillside and ridgeline preservation and development of creeks, trails, and parks in land use planning
