Election Profile: Dean Orr - Orinda City Council Candidate

Dean Orr is an associate at Jensen Architects, a small-mid size architecture firm located in San Francisco. His company does a wide range of work, including single-family homes, schools, retail, and arts related projects. His recently completed projects include the new Rooftop Garden and gallery expansion at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and offices for Nexon America. Current projects include new residences in Palo Alto and San Francisco and a mixed use retail/cafe/office building in Healdsburg, Ca. As a Senior Project Manager he is involved in all aspects of project delivery from initial programming, design and entitlements through construction administration.

My priority will be to foster greater input from residents about the issues facing Orinda. It is of critical importance that the community be involved in the decision- making process of local government. I will strive to create more opportunities for open and active dialogue within the community, and I will help ensure that the Council's decisions are balanced, sensible and transparent.
I do have a great interest in planning issues facing the city that I believe my professional background and experience as a planning commissioner can provide valuable insight. I look forward to working together with the community on updates to the General Plan and ensuring that our Housing Element continues to evolve and remain in compliance.

LamorindaPatch: What are your plans for Orinda if elected?
I care deeply about the Orinda community, our excellent schools, and the built and natural environments that make this an unparalleled place to live and enjoy as a family. Above all else, I appreciate the quality of life this city provides. As a member of the Orinda City Council, I will welcome the challenge of protecting these assets while encouraging new opportunities for smart growth and sustainable development in our town.
