The Orinda Hiking club plans a short 5-mile hike with a 1,000 feet elevation gain on Shell Ridge in Walnut Creek's open space.
The views are great and the mud bearable. Hikers are asked to wear boots and bring poles. There are no bathrooms and water at the trailhead. Hike should end by noon.
Meet at the old Orinda library parking lot at 8:15 for an 8:30 departure. You may also meet at the trailhead at the end of Marshall Road in Walnut Creek at 8:45 a.m.
