“Traditional Day Camps with a Twist”. Imagine being a able to start your day with “Candy in the Morning”, move on to Laser Tag set to music from your favorite musicians, then eat lunch with the new friend you made while painting and finish the day with a game of capture the flag. That is just what kids at Camp Awesome at the Lafayette Community Center are doing. Camp Awesome provides freedom from regimented school-type schedules with, thoughtfully supervised; tried and true games like dodge ball, pool, foosball and soccer. But today’s day camps have to offer more scheduling flexibility and keep up with the latest trends like physical Nintendo Wii games like ‘Just Dance’, and Games2U provided Xbox, laser tag and giant human sized instated hamster balls. The holiday camps will even feature and the amazing animals of Fur, Scales and Tales and the always entertaining Capt’n Jack Spareribs. The city’s recreation department is offering camps December 20th to 23rd and 27th to the 30th at a four day rate or parents may sign their 4 to 14 year olds up by the day. If the camps regular 9am to 2pm hours don’t work for you, they offer early care as early as 7:30am and Aftercare until 5pm. For more details call (925) 284-2232 or stop by www.LafayetteRec.org.
