Fiorina - Boxer Agree to Disagree at St. Mary's Sept. 1

After a back and forth discourse over where and when their first debate should take place, U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer and her Republican challenger have settled on Moraga.

U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer and Republican challenger Carly Fiorina will square off for their first debate in an hour-long televised forum Sept. 1 at St. Mary's College in Moraga.

Neither incumbent nor challenger has been satisfied with several suggested venues until now - with Fiorina's campaign staff proposing seven debates around the state.  Both camps, apparently, are happy with St. Mary's as a jumping off site for what many believe will be a hotly contested campaign.

The televised debate is being sponsored by the San Francisco Chronicle, KTVU Channel 2 News and KQED Public Radio.  KTVU Political Editor Randy Shandobil will serve as moderator, with the candidates fielding questions from Chronicle reporter Carla Marinucci, KQED's Scott Shafer and La Opinion Reporter Pilar Marrero.
