Firefighters Rescue 17 Dogs From House Fire (Video)

The fire was in a two story home. Other dogs reportedly died in the blaze.

OAKLAND, CA — Firefighters rescued 17 dogs from a two-alarm fire over the weekend, including performing life-saving measures on some of the dogs, according to Oakland fire officials.

They were unable to save other dogs, who perished in the blaze. An exact number has not been disclosed.

Oakland Animal Control officers took the rescued dogs to an animal hospital, according to a fire dispatcher.

Residents and firefighters escaped injury.

The fire was first reported at around 6 p.m. Saturday at a two-story home in the 2400 block of 108th Avenue.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No damage estimate has been released.
