Generous Residents 'Fill the Boot' for Moraga-Orinda Firefighters

A stint at an intersection Thursday netted a tidy sum!

LAMORINDA, CA — Labor Day weekend and the Muscular Dystrophy Telethon are still over a month away, but Moraga-Orinda firefighters are getting a good head start on fundraising.

On Thursday they collected $4,750 as part of the Fill the Boot campaign. They set up at the intersection of Rheem Boulevard and Moraga Road. Added to what had already been received, firefighters report that they hit their goal of collecting $10,000 in Moraga and Orinda.

Countywide, the grand total is $52,971.

According to firefighters, "These contributions allow children suffering from muscular disease to attend MDA's summer camps cost free! It also goes towards professional and public health education and research for 40 different neuromuscular diseases."
