Historic Home Tour in Martinez Returns on October 8th
The Tour includes 7 private homes (1914 to 1949), a wildlife sanctuary, the Junior High School (1931), antique autos, exhibits & musicians

Only 15 minutes to the north of Lafayette, the Martinez Historical Society will host its 10th annual Historic Home Tour on Saturday, October 8th. The Tour will enable you to walk through 7 interesting private homes – built in a variety of historic home styles that were popular between 1914 and 1949.
There will also be a wildlife garden on the Tour this year in which rescued animals live while undergoing rehabilitation. In addition, the Tour will include a public building: the Martinez Junior High School, a 1931 Spanish Revival building that won a statewide award for its design. You'll also have the option of seeing the new exhibits in the just-renovated Martinez Museum -- a week before the 1890 Victorian building officially reopens to the general public.
The Tour will begin at the 1937 Shell Clubhouse with its impressive Arts & Crafts interior. Complementary coffee will be served. There will be interesting displays to be seen in the Clubhouse, and the Shell Museum next door will be open. If you don’t wish to drive your own car on the Tour, there will be buses leaving the Clubhouse every 10 minutes. There will be tour guides on each bus. And docents will be stationed in each home to point out the features of each house. Antique automobiles will be parked in front of the homes for the day. You'll encounter local musicians along the way. Please allow at least 2 hours for the Tour.
