Hoppy News! 1st Annual Lamorinda Home Brew Festival Is In The Works

Submitted by Steve Meagher and Chris Flum, along with Oak Springs Pool in Orinda, who will be sponsoring the 1st Annual Lamorinda Home Brew Festival.

The Idea came about while Steve was riding up Mt. Diablo thinking of beer and becoming a home brewer.

Soon after he contacted Chris Flum and said, “I want to have a home brew fest,” and Chris said, “Let’s invite all the local home brewers, and we can get judges and make it a Hoppy Time for everyone!”

We are inviting our local Home Brewers to join in and participate with their favorite Home Brews we would like to have approximately 20 brews from which to choose, and currently have approximately 10.

We will have well known judges, including Scott Ungermann, the former Anheuser-Bush Brew Master and Current Production Director at Anchor Brewing and Distillers in San Francisco, among others to be announced.

There will be many categories to win, too, including best beers, best name, best art design, attendees favorite.

If you would like to attend there will be a limited number of admission tickets will be sold at $10 per ticket and you will receive a complimentary 5oz mug and there will be a variety of appetizers and hot dogs (all net proceeds will go to a local non-profit).

The official judging will begin at 4:00 PM. and attendees will enter around 5:30 PM to enjoy the participants beers and judge for themselves.
