Just In: Lockdowns Lifted At Miramonte, Del Rey Schools In Orinda
Law enforcement, including CHP helicopter, did not locate suspect reportedly in creek bed, police said.

Lockdowns at two schools in Orinda were lifted shortly after 1 p.m. today, according to a spokesperson at the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office.
Del Rey Elementary School and Miramonte High School in Orinda were both briefly on lockdown this afternoon because of police activity, according to a police dispatcher. The dispatcher said the schools were locked down sometime after noon.

Orinda police reported that a search was underway for a suspect possibly in a nearby creek bed.
A California Highway Patrol helicopter participated in the search, according to the Sheriff’s spokesperson. However, he added that the search was completed and no suspect located.

Del Rey Elementary School is located at 25 El Camino Moraga and is less than a mile away from Miramonte High School, located at 750 Moraga Way.
The dispatcher said police were searching the area of Moraga, Lafayette and Orinda.

Miramonte High School officials emailed the following to parents:
“At 12:15pm (time) we received information from the Orinda Police Department that Del Ray Elementary School was in lockdown due to a suspicious subject near the school.
“Our students were exiting for lunch and were safely returned into the classrooms and are currently in a precautionary lockdown.
“All students are currently with staff and are safe in the classrooms and will remain so until Orinda Police lifts the lockdown.
“As the situation changes, you will be provided with additional information via email. In order to keep your students safe and secure, and support Orinda Police Department, the campus is currently closed to the public.Again, as we receive additional information, you will be immediately notified via email.
Thank you, Miramonte Administration”
