Lafayette Embraces the Sun

Solar Energy Association honors City of Lafayette for its use of photovoltaic technology.

The City of  Lafayette will be recognized by the Northern California Solar Energy Association (NorCal Solar) for its use of photovoltaic (PV) technology at a July 14 awards ceremony at Moscone Center.

Lafayette was singled out among other cities of its size after NorCal surveys determined that the installation of residential, commercial, and municipal solar systems exceeded those of other communities.

The non-profit educational organization - whose stated mission is to accelerate the use of solar energy technology - has invited the city's dignitaries to San Francisco to receive a certificate for display in city offices on July 14.

The Solar City/County Awards compares the total grid-tied PV installations on all buildings in over 100 Bay Area communities. Information about these installed PV systems will be published in this year's Bay Area Solar Installations report, produced by NorCal Solar every year and the basis for the awards.
