Scores of Winners at Lafayette's Reservoir Run

Sun, fair skies smile upon 19th annual Sunday constitutional

Perfect weather conditions prevailed as more than 2,000 entrants worked up a sweat -- well, at least most of them did -- in today's measured walk/run that started and finished in front of Bank of America on Mount Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette.

The annual event, now sufficiently established to draw participants from throughout the Bay Area, is put on by the Lafayette Chamber of Commerce and supported by a host of local businesses.

A section of the Park Plaza parking lot was cordoned off for sponsor booths, fun activities for children, a pancake breakfast and live entertainment by the band from Stanley Middle School in Lafayette.

Also showcased was a handcrafted wood canoe raffled by Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary Club as a fundraiser for community service projects. Jay Lifson, head of the Chamber, drew the winning ticket at the conclusion of the event. The name on the stub was Norm Pease of Orinda. He has the option of accepting the canoe or $2,000 cash. The presentation will be made this coming Friday at the club's weekly breakfast meeting at Postino restaurant in downtown Lafayette.
