LAMORINDA, CA — A Lamorinda student will receive a National Merit Scholarship. Adriana Derksen of Moraga, a senior at Campolindo High School, is planning to study neuroscience. She was chosen from a pool of more than 15,000 finalists in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. In addition, an Acalanes High School senior who lives in Walnut Creek was also chosen. They and other California winners were judged to have the strongest combination of accomplishments, skills, and potential for success in rigorous college studies. The number of winners named in each state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the nation’s graduating high school seniors, according to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

The scholarship may be used at any regionally accredited U.S. college or university.
