Lamorinda Woman Wins Women's Division of Race

LAMORINDA, CA — An Emeryville man and Moraga woman won the men's and women's divisions of the Berkeley Half Marathon Sunday, organizers said.

Semereab Gerekidan won the men's division with a time of one hour, nine minutes and 23 seconds while Madeline Van Santen won the women's division with a time of one hour, 18 minutes and 55 seconds.

More than 9,000 runners braved the weather to run in the fourth annual event that raises money for Berkeley youth through the Berkeley Public Schools Fund.
