Layfayette Manhunt Update: Search Suspended
The individual, who reportedly fought with police Wednesday morning at a park, was not located.

UPDATE: Wednesday, July 8, 1:15 p.m.
A search for a suspect who allegedly fought with a police officer this morning in Lafayette was called off this afternoon, a Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman said.
Officers received a report at 9:36 a.m. of a suspicious vehicle at Lafayette Community Park, located at 480 St. Marys Road, according to sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee and Lafayette police Chief Eric Christensen.

Officers were able to arrest one of the suspects, 23-year-old Brittany Gilbert of Antioch on a warrant, but got into an altercation with the other suspect, who ran away from the officer, Christensen said. Police and a helicopter crew started searching for the suspect in the area of the park but police later said they had moved the search to Driftwood Drive and Shire Oaks Court, roughly a half-mile away.
Lafayette police suspended the search around 12:30 p.m., Lee said.

The suspect was described as a white male who is roughly 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a white and gray checkered shirt, gray pants and white shoes, police said.

The subject is a white male 5’ 8” 160 lbs drk brown hair last seen wearing white/grey shirt with grey pants.
If you see anything unusual in the area call 9-1-1.

The subject is now in the Driftwood Drive and Shire Oaks Court area. Residents are asked to remain inside. If you see a white male running or jumping fences call 9-1-1.

Police are searching for a suspect near a park in Lafayette this morning, police said.
Information about why police are searching for the suspect was not immediately available, Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said.
Lafayette police alerted the community shortly after 10 a.m. that officers and a helicopter crew were in the area of the Lafayette Community Park located at 480 St. Marys Road.
Offices are searching for a white male who is roughly 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing a white and gray checkered shirt, gray pants and white shoes, police said.
Anyone who sees anything suspicious is encouraged to call 911.
